Up to Snuff? |
- Believe it. We were skeptical when we first heard about the
product. After all, how much of a difference can temperature make when you
just need a drink. It makes a lot of difference - trust us.
Having liquid that is considerably colder than the ambient temperature,
and a heck of a lot lower than your core temperature not only keeps your
energy drink from tasting nasty, but also has a great psychological kick
when you are overheated.
We found that for all day outings and epic rides, having to bottles, one
left in the refrigerator overnight and one in the freezer works great. You
can start on the chilled one and keep the frozen one for when you are
really needing it during the second half of your ride.
- No problem getting the ice in the bottle.
- The spout does indeed twist off and allows you to thoroughly clean the
cap and stopper. We found this especially nice after finding a 2 month-old
full bottle of Cytomax in the car. Yum.

Others to Consider: |
We do not know of any
other bottles that work like the Polar. We have tried freezing hydration
backpacks the night before desert riding, but were disappointed. The biggest
issue is that while the pack is frozen, you risk serious injury if you go
over the bars and land on your back. Happened to us more than once - did not
like it one bit. Go for the Polar Bottles. |

Tell me about where you rode: |
- Patapsco State Park is improbably located just outside of Baltimore,
Maryland...
- Bend, Oregon is a cycling Mecca. Located in Central Oregon, this high
desert Nirvana features long, smooth road riding with incredible views of
the mountains that surround. Those more accustomed to the dirt are not
left out. Mountain biking is one of the primary reasons that the staff of
Veloclothes make at least one trip per year (two or three when we can get
away with it).
